There is a social evening in the club on Friday 8th February, list up on club notice board.
British Isles Championships
Roger Jones represented Wales in the singles and after winning his prelim match against Guernsey 21-11 he lost out in the semi final to Jersey 21-15. Well done Roger you have done yourself proud again.
In the under 25 singles a former player and favourite son of Beaufort represented Scotland, well done Joe Mower who narrowly lost to Ross Owen from Wales 21-20.
We are well represented in the Internationals which start tomorrow, good luck to Daniel Davies Jnr. and Chis Klefenz.
WELSH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017
It has been a fantastic week for the club in the Welsh Championships fighting for five titles. Although some results were disappointing, it is a great achievement to reach this stage, so everyone can hold their heads up. I am delighted to report that we do have a Welsh Singles Champion in the club, pride of place to ROGER JONES.
Congratulations also to Danny Davies, Aaron Rees, Daniel Davies Jnr., Chris Klefenz, Tom Daniel, Alan Edwards and Clive Williams.
A proud week for the club and I was certainly proud to be there as your Chairman.
The 2017 season is almost upon us and it looks as if it could be an exciting one for us. Wheels are in motion to bring our club shirts up to date and I am excited about seeing the finished article soon. Members will be notified in due course when sizes can be tried and the full order sorted.
We welcome a number of new members to the fold, most notably Roger Jones a current Welsh international bowler and a British Isles champion, I am sure Roger will be a great addition to our club and team. Owen Davies returns to the fold after having a spell back with his Dad at Llanhilleth and I am sure he will also be a great addition to our squad. Peter Stahl, Mike Harvey, Alistair Rosser and a possible return of Wayne Hooper will all make our club stronger and pose a few problems for the selectors, a nice problem to have though.
Obviously with these additions there will be a few people disappointed with their position in the teams but this is a natural response and I would be more surprised if people weren’t disappointed, all I ask is that we try and support the team manager and selectors the best we can and if you are unhappy with your lot, do your talking with your bowls on the green. A positive attitude from all members will, I am sure, lead a to a very successful season.
We are again indebted to Tom for providing a great fixture card and he has added a few friendlies to test the water to see if members want these as compensation for the reduced number of GBL games. If you want to go down this road then support Tom and the club and put your names down for all fixtures you are available for.
Great news already for the new season with Chris Klefenz, Daniel Davies Junior and Roger Jones all selected for the Welsh Senior trials and Chris Klefenz has also been selected to represent Wales in the European championships in Jersy in September, congratulations and good luck guys.
Good luck, good health and good bowls for 2017 to you all.
