The club is always open for the Welsh rugby internationals and a warm welcome is assured for everyone.  Next up is Wales v France on Saturday 22nd February, K.O. 16:45.  We will also be open for the curtain raiser Italy v Scotland K.O. 14:15 and the England v Ireland game on Sunday 23rd K.O. 15:00.

World Bowls

We are delighted to announce that one of our bowlers, Chis Klefenz, has been selected to represent Wales at the World Bowls competition in Australia in May.  I am sure everyone at the club will join me in wishing Chris well in this venture and we hope he can return with some medals.  Well done mate.

Dress Code

In a recent meeting of the club committee it was decided to try and change the dress code to try and encourage all members to dress the same during times of representing the club.  It has been somewhat disorganised in recent years and we are hopeful that eventually the new dress code will become a success.  The guidelines are that members wear grey trousers and their playing shirts to the matches and immediately after the match they change into the new polo shirts as advertised in our new shop page.  We are aware of a few members being insistent on wearing blazers and ties and there is nothing wrong with this approach as they will obviously be in Beaufort attire.  We shall have to see how it pans out over the next season or two.

Green Contractors

The committee recently voted to change our green contractors and I think the first thing to do is to thank Absolute Grass Care for the wonderful work they have done for us over the last four years and I think everyone would agree that our green is in a much better state than it was four years ago.  Unfortunately, in a show of solidarity to Absolute, our greens stalwart Roger Harvey has decided he no longer wishes to be part of our greens committee, again, there is nothing but praise for all the work Roger has done on the green over the last four years, I don’t think we would be anywhere near where we are today without his efforts.

Our new contractors, Air2root Turf Care Ltd., will start work on the green on Sunday morning at 09:00 and if any members would like to pop along and meet them, maybe ask a few questions about their ideas and plans, I am sure the guys will try and answer as honestly as possible.  We are assured further improvements in our green which can only be good for the club going forward.

Pool tournament

There is a pool tournament planned for next Sunday, 1st March, anyone interested should contact Danny Davies.  Entry will be £10 with winner taking £100.  See Danny for all the details.
